Automatic universal suffrage is a foolish, foolish idea. I'm not entirely opposed to a franchise-by-(civic) knowledge system . . .

"To restore the republic, we should have to undertake a massive program of disenfranchisement, beginning with people who work for or receive benefits from government, moving on to unmarried women, and finishing off with anyone who has seen three films starring Heath Ledger or Brad Pitt."

The funniest thing you've ever posted, Daniel. Unfortunately I am disfranchised on two of the three points. Zounds! And I would vote Ron Paul if I could.. But barring that possibility, I disenfranchise myself. Since being able to vote, I've never voted for president.. No, sorry, I believe I wrote in Mother Theresa in 1992. But as she was an Albanian or Indian citizen, that gesture was mere political theater..

But seeing as our national elections are farces anyway, I consider that act to have been entirely in keeping with the spirit of the event.

That would remove the Oceans franchise. I'm not sure restricting the franchise to the Amish is the answer either. We all receive benefit from the government.
