Voters don't decide based on a bundle of policy prescriptions; they go for a sense of who the candidate is and where he might take the country. This is not as foolish as it seems, because Presidents seldom end up doing what they say the will do.

Of course, a candidate can be all sizzle and no bacon, which is one of Obama's problems; he can't even name the abyss into which he will cause the nation to hurl itself.</description>
