					<description>I'll not try to add to your political analysis, which as usual makes good sense to me.  Speaking only for my own household, my wife and I read Mr. McCain as genuinely heroic but slightly mad, lunatic, less than fully in touch with reality.  In an age in which the president of the United States bears authority to launch nuclear missiles, this is a problem for us.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with Mr. McCain's positions on the issues.

We would not be "upset" by a McCain nomination.  Authentic conservatives don't normally get "upset" about things like that, so it might have been a poor choice of word on the pollster's part.  We would however cheerfully vote Hillary Clinton to keep Mr. McCain's finger off the nuclear trigger.  For us, it's really about as simple as that.
