As an atheist, this symbol business is pretty embarrassing, although it’s not quite as bad as the use of the term “bright,” which is advocated by people I have a lot of respect for (such as Professor Dennett).

That first one looks like a luxury car logo.

That’s true. It does have a very Acura-esque look to it. Maybe they were trying to say, “We don’t believe in God, but we do believe in expensive automobiles.”

It actually reminds me of the 80’s “anarchy” symbol, which a college classmate of mine had shaved into her head. Given the other suggestions, it speaks loudly of well-heeled nerds who still like to be reminded of their years as the drummer in a punk band that played mostly science fiction conventions.

Imagine the possible slogans. “The 2007 Pyrrho. A ride that’s out of this world. If we believed in that sort of thing.”
You know, it’s actually a reversed ampersand.

Thanks, Daniel - since I’ve pretty much given up reading Sullivan I might have missed this silliness (though perhaps it will eventually migrate to someplace I do read, like GNXP).
“We don’t believe in God, but we do believe in expensive automobiles.” - disbelief in expensive automobiles, while reasonable for a savage who had never seen an Acura, is falsifiable; “I refute it thus”.
