People like this is why I usually cannot dialogue with pro-aborts, they aren't just wrong... they are EVIL and you don't dialogue with evil - you fight it.

I don't think Marcotte respects your deeply held conviction, but it is certainly possible to think abortion is just fine without disrespecting others' convictions. Marcotte is of that particular kind of leftist who are utterly intolerant. She apparently does regard anyone who is prolife as a villian. My opinion is similar to hers on abortion, but I don't think that makes the opposition villians.

The problem here is that there is no way for either side to prove its beliefs to the other, because the fundamental disagreement here is about the origin of rights, and rights are a supernatural concept. We cannot sense or measure in ourselves the rights to life, liberty, and property using any instrument; we can merely exclaim loudly that they exist, and that is just as true for a single fertilized egg as it is for you and me.

For me, or you, or anyone to believe in rights, is a fundamentally religious matter (and I say that as an atheist).

The solution to religious strife? Separation of church and state. Religious tolerance where it can exist, and separation where it cannot.

There are only two things to do about the Amanda Marcottes of the world: pray for them, and do all in our power to ensure that they have minimal to no effect on public policy.
