Thanks, Mr. Richert and Josh, for your comments. Opportunism does make sense of Mr. Gancarski's rapid, bizarre conversion, and I suppose such opportunists don't have any great capacity for loyalty. All the more reason to disdain the drivel that he has been producing, as I imagine we all do.

It may be that I have been expecting too much from Mr. Gancarski. It seemed reasonable that, after writing for The American Conservative and Antiwar for a while, he would have come to understand that their reasons for their positions made sense without any connection to leftist nonsense. I was assuming that a contributor would be involved in a venture out of shared convictions and that he would take note of his colleagues' work and views. Perhaps this was an all together too optimistic and 'idealistic' view of why people get involved in certain kinds of political commentary.

At any rate, it seemed that some small rebuttal of his charges, however ludicrous, was in order.

Daniel, I think you're giving Gancarski too much credit for being smart. In the article below, he says he bought into the line, "you're either with us or the terrorists." What more can you expect from a guy who can't make distinctions between paleos, commies, Stalinists, Birchers, and LaRouche supporters, and who has to pull out the Anti-Semite card in order to sound like a part of the team?

It appears that Mr. Gancarski is more concerned with getting his name in print than he is with holding a principled position. He came knocking at our door--repeatedly--pitching articles that were unimportant at best.

I'm glad he's found himself a home. David Horowitz, having only a web operation these days, can publish him more often. And he can pay him better than we could. I'm sure, however, that neither of those have anything to do with Mr. Gancarski's change of heart.
